Favorite thing to build and why: I like to build little towns and other practical objects such as light houses, docks, factories, things that you might see in a real place. I mostly pick little projects that I can get done in a few hours so I can limit my building time each day.
IRL hobbies: I wouldn't call them hobbies but I watch a lot of documentaries and read a lot of news.
Occupation: Graduate student.

Pick one of the following topics, and tell us something about it - Ancient Egypt, Famous Pianists, Nuclear Physics:
I'm gonna go for the easy topic and pick nuclear physics. Nuclear physics is founded in Einstein's most famous equation (more so than the photo electric work equation for which he won the Nobel prize) E=mc^2. Which plainly states the the rest energy of some amount of matter is proportional to it's mass.

When you take this equation and apply it to Helium and Hydrogen you notice a curious thing. Hydrogen is made up of one proton with a mass of 1.00794 g/mole while Helium is made up of two protons and two neutrons each having 1.008664 g/mole, which means it should have a mass of 4.03328 g/mole. However it doesn't. Helium has a rest mass of only 4.002602 g/mole which means that if I were to fuse two protons and two neutrons together to make a Helium atom I would have 0.030606 g/mole or, from Einstein's equation, 2.75*10^12 joules of energy per mole of Helium created.

To give you a reference a stick of dynamite when it explodes releases 2.1*10^6 joules of energy which means that fusing together one mole (~four grams) of hydrogen releases roughly a million sticks of dynamite in energy into it's surrounding environment.

I know this smart son of a B. He is a good guy and would be a good addition to our group.

You've been added to the white list! Please view our server and forum rules HERE. If you'd like to join our Mumble server, the information is...
vx38.commandchannel.com
31493

The server address for the Minecraft server is...
ahnaris.mossycobble.com

Most of the major projects on the server are built around the texture pack John Smith. It's not a requirement to install or use it, but odds are good that the server will look much better if you use the same texture pack that the moderators are using.

In order to use this texture pack, you need to download MCPatcher, and John Smith. There are installation instructions included in the zip file.

I am locking this topic to prevent spam. If you have any issues, please send any OP (our names are in dark blue) a PM and we will do our best to help you out.
