Web/Domain Hosting
So, I have a domain with godaddy, and want to move it off, due to all this SOPA crap.
However, I need windows web hosting, as I am a .NET developer, and generally cant stand Java/PHP. I'll develop in them, but I prefer Windows, personally. And before anyone goes there, I have a linux box I built myself. I use it as a staging server for any Java/PHP I do. So, I do know my way around it, just like Windows more.
Any suggestions for a hosting provider?
Namecheap doesnt seem to provide windows hosts, just linux - unless I completely missed it on their website.

Re: Web/Domain Hosting
Have you considered this:
http://www.webhostingsearch.com/windows-web-hosting.php
And I think I'll also switch my hosting to windows, since we can now run PHP and MySQL on Win2k8...

Don't crap on people's legit threads, it's not nice.

Sorry Nautik, simply pointing out his ridiculous it is to move away from a service you're used to just because the CEO said something stupid, then backtracked and did the right thing.

Back on track...
You want to build the site yourself, from scratch? I don't know a whole lot about hosting, but I know that Clover offers affordable website hosting, as does Yola. Yola is actually free for the first five websites, but with restrictions. Pay to host, and you get to mess with the code of the website itself instead of using Yola's rather clunky editing tools.
I happen to have a site with Yola. It's nothing special, since I never really put any effort into it, but it's there. rhett13Online.yolasite.com if you're interested.

I also know personally that Yola is pretty good. I totally agree with the whole prefer windows for development thing. I am just more familiar with it. Good luck with the web host thing BTW.

I will be building the site from scratch, yes.
Ive not worked on it in quite a while, and there are many unfinished sections, but its tomprogramming.com
Ill check out the above sites when things calm down at home...I have a year with godaddy anyway, so I probably wont switch just yet.

Re: Web/Domain Hosting
I checked your website, but a quick thought:
Is using a pre-made CMS will make your life easier?
WP will be in great help for you on such website...
And it will work on IIS after the installation of PHP/MySQL support...

Re: Web/Domain Hosting
heh...programmer....i was actually going for the boxy style, so the effect was intended.
and yes, a CMS would make life easier, but im probably gonna ditch the blog portion anyway. No time, and what I would have to say, Im just copying from other people anyway.
