Favorite thing to build and why: Well, I'm looking forward to building my first house in Minecraft. I've never played before, but I've been watching Ahnaris' videos and tutorial videos online so I'm excited to start.

Pick one of the following topics, and tell us something about it - Ancient Egypt, Famous Pianists, Nuclear Physics: The proton–proton chain reaction is one of several nuclear fusion reactions by which stars convert hydrogen to helium, the primary alternative being the CNO cycle. The proton–proton chain dominates in stars the size of the Sun or smaller.

The first step involves the fusion of two hydrogen nuclei protons into deuterium, releasing a positron and a neutrino as one proton changes into a neutron. This step is extremely slow, both because the protons have to tunnel through the Coulomb barrier and because it depends on weak interactions.

The positron immediately annihilates with an electron, and their mass energy, as well as their kinetic energy, is carried off by two gamma ray photons.

After this, the deuterium produced in the first stage can fuse with another hydrogen to produce a light isotope of helium, helium-3.

For stars like our Sun, with temperatures ranging from 10-14 MK (e.g. the Sun), the pp 1 path dominates the helium production. In pp I helium-4 comes from fusing two of the helium-3 nuclei produced. The complete pp I chain reaction releases a net energy of 26.7 MeV.

Most of the major projects on the server are built around the texture pack John Smith. It's not a requirement to install or use it, but odds are good that the server will look much better if you use the same texture pack that the moderators are using.

In order to use this texture pack, you need to download MCPatcher, and John Smith. There are installation instructions included in the zip file.
