I know it's a bit over your price point and if you need a case, mouse, OS, etc. Dropping the GPU to a GTX660 should be fine. The PSU is a bit on the pricey side, so you could find cheaper, however, it is modular which means you only need to use the cables you need, and it has a bronze certification so it will be very efficient with power (saving on energy bill). Also, the PSU is very important, a bad PSU could damage your whole system. The aftermarket cooler is only if you want to overclock the i5. If you don't, I'd say this is a very capable CPU however you won't have much OCing headroom. Leave any questions down below.

That's true. However, I haven't dabbled in AMD yet, as of now all my builds have been with Intel/Nvidia.
Re: Snook's computer. (Compiled a list for him)
That is the Cpu i am looking at but its an upgrade i am doing so i am just buying motherboard, Cpu and maybe ram and power supply (Fully Modular or Semi Modular).
e.g http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Generation-i5-3570K-3-40GHz-Technology/dp/B007RUZKK6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361209050&sr=8-1
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Motherboard-CrossFireX-Intelligent-Processors/dp/B007KZQE7Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361209055&sr=8-1
Can anyone recommend a decent PC case as the current is way to small.
This is for my family's PC as my laptop is broke and it is out of warranty so i am sick of it as it has broke down like 5 times.
I have £500 which is equivalent to $776. I don't want to spend it all just want vital componants for a pc, also no need for a graphics card because there is already one i can bare with which i can upgrade in the future.
My mum is also paying as well so we will probably go halves as it is for the family PC.

I can recommend *against* rosewill cases, at least their redbone one. It's supposed to be rated for atx form factor, but it just barely fits.

I'd reccomend something from either Corsair or NZXT. From what I can tell they have great build quality, although they are mostly on the pricey side $100+. Cooler Master is good for cheaper cases, but I find their build quality sub par. I have a CM Elite 430, and it fell off my desk 2.5ft. It has a fully metal construction and the side doors are so bent out of shape I can't even close them fully.
