Is MLG getting greedy?
This whole idea of subscribing and buying an online ticket wont really get them any money but it just sounds like a good profitable idea.
People can watch starcraft 2 for free with little to no commercials. Why would we want to pay $20 to still get commercials to watch a couple of the games at the weekend?
It's not the superbowl. Adverts about coca cola and doctor pepper don't really inspire awe like the avengers trailer.
To me, it seems like a profiteering idea but it wont work as well as it should since the viewer rate has dropped from over 100,000 to about 10,000 and that's only on twitch. There were thousands who used to watch it on MLG as well. Now everyone is forced to watch on twitch and that means there were probably upwards of 150,000 people watching last year and yet only 10,000 this year...
Doesn't sound like the idea is working too well.
MLG was doing great in 2011 but I'm begining to worry about 2012 MLG already.
Hopefully it'll all pan out fine and future tournaments will be back to the original standard that did so well.
