I'm having some BIG problems
ok so I'm having some problems with my Windows 7 64 bit.
It black screens, then comes back but stops me clicking anything, then blue screens. when I safe mode it prompts the message "Exception Breakpoint Reached" Shows up.
This is what windows seems to come up with.

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
The interwebs seem to think its a hardware (graphics card) issue. Installed anything new lately?

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Haven't touched a thing :/ Latest install would have been SC2 NA about a month ago? I'll follow those instructions though.
It's now been running for 20 minutes where it would have shut off after 5.
I saw what he mentioned about cooling. The fan seems to be running more than usual though. And it's more than sufficiently cooled where it is sitting :/
My old man just came round to look at it, he's saying theres something using a tonne of memory which is causing it to shut itself down yet nothing is showing up :s

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
I've never heard of anything using so much memory that it shuts down. The blue screen is th to alert you that something tried to access protected memory, but not from memory overload. If you bring up the task manager(Ctrl+Shift+Esc). What kind of memory usage is reported?

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
I let him work around with it. He said that some process with a tonne of letters and numbers was accessing something it shouldn't (Like you say) and he's managed to do whatever needed done. He hit out with instructions to rectify it if it does it again but I forget.
1 thing though, I'm constantly acessing the task manager and having to end the process tree for chrome as it opens 4 processes at once when I open 1 page and continues keeping these 3 processes running. It's getting a major pain in the ass.

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Chrome manages tabs and extensions differently than any other program that I've seen. Each tab and each extension is loaded into a different process, enabling among other things, multi core processor usage, as well as ability to monitor each tab for performance issues and kill it without ending the entire program. It's not unusual for chrome to have multiple processes, and shouldn't be causing major issues when used in a normal web browsing manner.

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
I'm a little rusty at this but wouldn't there be a 0x code after the 3b if it was a hardware fault?
If you think chrome is the problem open up the resource monitor and find the chrome process, right click and analyse. See if it detects anything abnormal.

From the article:
indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.According to the documentation provided by Microsoft, this error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Well the computer was restored to 5 days and everything was good. It automatically updated while I was asleep last night, Back to the same problems. Starting to get really pissed off!.
Looks like something in the new update isn't happy with my computer :/

I just remembered. I downloaded MSchart.exe for the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
Cause of my problems possibly?

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Its possible, but I dont think its likely.
I cant find anything linking the issue with that product.

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Well I can't find my windows restore disk. I had initially sent the computer back when the Hard drive and graphics just went at the same time. The sleeve is in the box for it but no disk. So I can't even restore windows :/

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Windows stopped shipping with a restore disk some time ago. There should be a recovery partition on your drive. You can enter system recovery at start up.

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Sorry what I meant was my Fujitsu restore disk. It's gone :(

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Im not quite sure I follow.
Typically there is a system recovery console built into a partition of your hard drive. This is meant to be the restore disk, including options to repair/reinstall windows. Only if you wipe the hard drive does it go away.
As far as a physical disk, all that would have is drivers, which are widely available online.

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Well It turns out that the recovery console is inaccessible at the time being. I have absolutely no idea why as I haven't deleted anything whatsoever!

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
You usually cant get into it from windows, but have to hit a key (f8, f4, del, esc) at start up. The logo screen should have instructions. whats the make and model?

Re: I'm having some BIG problems
Yeah I know how to do it but it just puts me through to the screen to chose from safe mode etc, no restore options.
Oh and it's a Fujitsu Esprimo P1500

Haha, just be careful of those windows updates. They can do more damage than good sometimes.

Ask me about that :/, and congrats for fixing your problem Alex :D
For minecraft issue, had it came to you to just copy the whole .minecraft folder off your AppData folder?
And also, make sure you are using the 64bit java, not the 32bit one
And more: (:D) never install any hardware driver update from Windows Update if it asked you to...
Re: I'm having some BIG problems
I sorted it. Turned out I didn't have my damn graphics drivers installed. but I had to keep re-downloading it until i actually decided to go. I contacted Fujitsu about getting the software disc from them and they wanted £20 so I told em no, A huge parcel arrived for me today with 18 discs all of windows Home Premium lol
