Pick one of the following topics, and tell us something about it - Ancient Egypt, Famous Pianists, Nuclear Physics:
Nuclear Physics: If the half-life of a radionuclide is known then it is possible to determine the number of half-lives a substance has undergone based on the amount of radionuclide present within a sample, this is the principle behind radioactive dating. This process has been used with Carbon-14 ( C-14 ) to determine the age of a sample within a historically relevant time frame. C-14 is produced at a constant rate in the upper atmosphere due to the bombardment of nitrogen by cosmic rays. This radiocarbon then mixes with the normal carbon present in the atmosphere, such as that in the form of carbon dioxide. Then, through the biological function of every living thing ordinary carbon is replaced by the radiocarbon. An exchange equilibrium is eventually reached where the organism stops taking in more than a certain amount C-14, so there then exists a fraction C-14 along with the ordinary C-12. This equilibrium is stable as long as the biological function of the organism is maintained. When the organism dies the exchange stops and the amount of C-14 will decay according to it's half life. The age of a sample can then be determined by measuring the amount of radiocarbon per gram of organic matter. Different radionuclides can be used in place of carbon-14 to measure different time intervals.

You've been added to the white list! Please view our server and forum rules HERE. If you'd like to join our Mumble server, the information is...
vx38.commandchannel.com

The server address for the Minecraft server is...
ahnaris.mossycobble.com
OR
74.63.240.57

Most of the major projects on the server are built around the texture pack John Smith. It's not a requirement to install or use it, but odds are good that the server will look much better if you use the same texture pack that the moderators are using.

In order to use this texture pack, you need to download MCPatcher, and John Smith. There are installation instructions included in the zip file.

I am locking this topic to prevent spam. If you have any issues, please send any OP (our names are in black) a PM and we will do our best to help you out.
