Favorite thing to build and why: Interesting question. This changes with my mood, but I generally like to make above ground structures very detailed and as "pretty" as I can. i.e. if I were to build a large house, I would probably choose an architectural style (ancient Arabian, ancient Chinese, Gothic and Victorian are a few of my favorites) and do my darnedest to make it look like it's from whatever part of the world I chose. I also like attempting to replicate buildings or areas from other video games, as well as inventing fantasy/futuristic styled buildings. I like making gardens and greenhouses, and even when I have to collect resources underground, I like my mines to be as "interesting" as possible.
IRL hobbies: Gardening, fishkeeping, stained glass
Occupation: hydrology student
Pick one of the following topics, and tell us something about it - Ancient Egypt, Famous Pianists, Nuclear Physics:

For the sake of trying to answer this uniquely, lets talk about quantum mechanics. Consider the classic thought experiment known as Schrödinger's cat. Imagine a cat locked in closed room with a machine that has a 50% chance of killing the cat. When you open the door and look inside, the cat will either be alive or dead. However, Copenhagen's interpretation of quantum mechanics implies that until an outside observer is introduced into this closed system, the cat is both alive and dead. As soon as the door is opened by an outside observer, however, the system "collapses" and the cat is either alive or dead, not both.

Here is another example. Imagine a closed box holding one single electron (which forms an electron cloud inside the box). The box is then divided in two, without creating an opening. You now have two boxes which each have a 50% chance of containing the electron. For the time being, the electron is in both boxes at the same time, remaining in its cloud or "wave" state. The two boxes could be separated by as much distance as you want, and they still both contain the electron until one box is opened by an outside observer. As soon as a box is opened, the system undergoes wavefunction collapse and electron will either be present or it will not. The multiple universes theory takes this idea a step further by saying that the act of opening one of the boxes causes the current universe to split unto two different ones. In one universe the electron is present in whichever box is opened, in the other, it is not.

Part of the Copenhagen interpretation states that the universe does not split until it has to - until an outside observer forces a decision to be made. So, in the case of Schrödinger's cat, is it really the machine that kills the cat, or the nosy scientist who opens the door and forces the universe to either kill the cat or not? If no one ever opens the door, the cat will always be both alive and dead, at the same time. With this line of thinking, it could be implied that each and every decision you make causes the universe to split. How many universes have you created today?

It has been said that given infinite time and space, everything will happen. By the multiple universes theory, everything is happening at every instant, simultaneously.

Your interview has finished and been approved, you're now added to the white list! Please view our server and forum rules.

The server address for the Minecraft server is...
ahnaris.mossycobble.com
OR
74.63.240.57

Most of the major projects on the server are built around the John Smith texture pack. It's not a requirement to install or use it, but odds are good that the server will look much better if you use the same texture pack that the moderators are using.

In order to use this texture pack, you need to download MCpatcher, and John Smith. There are installation instructions included in the zip file.

I am locking this topic to prevent spam. If you have any issues, please send any OP (our names are in black) a PM and we will do our best to help you out.
