Favorite thing to build and why: Mostly texture packs, but in game I tend to build basic redstone creations or houses because they offer a good balance of being interesting yet reasonably quick to build. In the past, on my local install, I did build a larger project of a long elevated road with way-point huts along the way to allow safe travel across the world. It also had a pretty nice tower at one point along the way.

IRL hobbies: Casual games of basketball or volleyball. Occasional skiing. Autocross racing (just for fun). Creating content for computer games (maps, texture packs, etc).

Pick one of the following topics, and tell us something about it - Ancient Egypt, Famous Pianists, Nuclear Physics: In nuclear physics, the subatomic particles that make up things like protons are called "quarks". The different flavors of quarks are called "up", "down", "top", "bottom", "charm", and "strange". Some of these names are probably due to nuclear physicists spending too much time enclosed in small indoor spaces. As a software engineer, I can relate to that. :)

Most of the major projects on the server are built around the John Smith texture pack. It's not a requirement to install or use it, but odds are good that the server will look much better if you use the same texture pack that the moderators are using.

In order to use this texture pack, you need to download MCpatcher, and John Smith. There are installation instructions included in the zip file.
