Pick one of the following topics, and tell us something about it - Ancient Egypt, Famous Pianists, Nuclear Physics:

Large Pyramids, detailed carvings on temple walls, beautiful jewelry worn by the great pharaohs, and so much more. Ancient Egypt is defined by all of these fascinating things of the past, But have you ever thought about the people who made them? How they made them? or even why they made them? We are going to go back in time and look find the answers. Jewelers, bronze smiths, artists, stonemasons, potters, and metal-workers are just a few jobs that we will explore today. Sit Back, Relax, and Learn!

Jewelers used their crafting skills to make detailed necklaces, bracelets, and all different types of jewelry for important people but mostly for the Pharaoh. This job of making items for people to wear in life on earth and the afterlife was quiet important. To make these wonderful pieces of art they used lapis lazuli, feldspar, and most importantly gold. To make these magnificent pieces a metal was placed into an ancient foot bellow and melted then poured into a mold and decoration was added.

Bronze-smiths mostly made small statues for tombs, this was an important job making items for a pharaohs tomb that would be brought into the afterlife along side them. The statues were quite amazing back in ancient Egypt, and still amaze us today. The process that they invented was a very intelligent one. First they carved a solid wax statue, then later covered it with clay and left it to dry. After a while they came back and melted to wax out of the statue, then they either coated the clay with a thin layer of gold or poured gold inside of the hollow statue.

Artists were one of the most important and well know jobs in ancient Egypt. They decorated the insides of tombs with complex writings and detailed drawings of the past. They used colorful blues, greens, and whites to make the wall almost come alive. The drawings of people, wars, animals, and much more. Imagine drawing in the dark, these artists were so far into the tombs that they couldn't even see, so they set up a mirror system so that the light was reflected of the mirrors into the dark tombs.

Stonemasons made the items that are so amazing today we are considering that they had "alien help" or just smarter than we thought. Yes, they build the pyramids, temples, and massive statues. As you can probably imagine this was not an easy job, cutting through hard stones with only a saw. If that isn't hard enough for you they also put 500 tons of stone into a structure. Later they discovered that limestone and sandstone were much easier tools to use.

All the beautiful pots of ancient Egypt were handmade. They used coils of clay and one of the most useful inventions we still use today, the potters wheel. this tool spins around while you use your hands to shape the pot. After the pot was formed and left to dry intricate drawings were added to the beautiful piece.

Carpenters, These craftsmen worked with wood and their own tools, such as chisels, axes, saws, and so much more. These tools were used to make anything from a simple boat to the frame of palaces. They even made sarcophagus' for anybody!

Egyptians had to use Human Ingenuity and use their brains to make suitable tools that fit what they need to do or made what they had to do easier. The craftsmen had to also use Human Ingenuity to think up unique designs to please whoever they were making it for, nobody wants a mass produced piece of art. Artists came up with the brilliant idea to make a mirror system to make their jobs easier, potters invented the potters wheel to make their pieces look nicer, and carpenters invented a load of new tools that we still use today. This shows how great these craftsmen were are using Human Ingenuity.

What role does environment play in shaping a civilization? Well, The environment was used to form pieces of art which were considered a piece of religion or had to do with their religion such as lapis lazuli or iron. The elements of the environment were used some of the time in the process to create art, such as jewelers using fire to melt metals. The arts and crafts made by craftsmen were also sold which helped to build a strong economy. I think that the art is what defines ancient Egypt as a great civilization.

Thanks for reading to my essay, Hope you enjoyed.
