Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
I am looking for people that don't suck to trade gems with. Not sucking = logging in once a day to do a trade. If you play, let me know your name so I can hook you up with a gem every day.
Name is Nautik717, feel free to add me.
If you don't play DragonVale, you're not hip with in crowd.

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
Sweet. It doesnt look too hard, just got to strategize what you are going to use your money on and that is basically it.
Btw, how do you get the second island?
Btw, how do you get the second island?
Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
Yep, at the start it's all about managing your resources. Once you get to 14 you are able to get an insane amount of coin, but gems are always hard to come by, no matter what your level.
You get your second island at level 10 if I'm not mistaken. I didn't buy mine right away because I didn't need the room until a day or two ago.

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
That's a pretty good start, I think I made it to 7 or 8 my first day. It seems like once you get into the double digit levels it takes a bit longer. My strategy is to be always breeding two different sets of dragons, and always be growing food in every single one of the treat farms. With that strat, 12-13 has gone quicker than 11-12 did.

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
well i am currently at 12 now. and i feel as if im doing something wrong....
i visit the random players and they are like 14, 15, 19, 11, etc and they have more than 1million dollars, tons of gems, and food. I barely make it to 100k dollars when i leave the ipod alone for the day. What's the secret to that?

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
It will ramp up majorly when you get to 14. What I did was this...
Keep 1 of each sort of dragon.
1 Plant
1 Fire
1 Earth
1 Lightning
1 Cold
1 Water
1 Air
From those seven, create hybrids. Whatever you want as far as hybrids go. I'm trying to get one of each, so if I end up breeding a duplicate, I just sell it as it hatches. The idea is to try and always have something breeding, and always have an egg getting ready to hatch. More breeding and hatching means more XP. Also, check out the goals, and try to knock them out. There's a lot of XP to be had from goals.
I found the 10-12 grind really slow. It picked up a ton at 12 for some reason. As soon as you get to 14, get yourself a water dragon ASAP. As soon as the water dragon is hatched *always* be breeding it with fire. It creates an air dragon. Keep one air dragon for breeding, and sell the rest of the air dragons you breed. It's an easy 500,000g every two hours.
Gems are difficult to come by unless you buy them for IRL $$. I won't lie, that's what I did. I decided that since the app was free, and I enjoyed the game so much, I would support the game studio by buying some gems. I bought $10 worth, and that got me the tree that allows me to gift more gems, a max upgraded nursery, and the epic breeding island. Pretty good for $10.
For treats, just always have them growing. I have two treat farms, and I try to always be growing Pumpermelons, since they have the best XP gained to gold spent ratio. I don't have the huge farm yet, so that will change as soon as I upgrade. I should actually have more treat farms, that's certainly a spot where I'm lacking right now.
Checking out your island, my recommendations are...
- Put in paths. I'm not sure how other people have theirs set up, but all of my habitats basically have a path all around the perimeter. Visitors like paths. Check out my park to get an idea of how they should be set up.
- Sell your extra plant and fire dragons. Keep a maximum of two of each type, and start breeding for hybrids. Some farms you'll see a crap ton of one type of dragon; it's usually a hybrid that brings in a ton of cash. That's more of an "end game" kind of thing as far as I can gather.
That's really my only advice off the top of your head as I'm looking at your islands right now. Don't worry too much about clearing out that second island, I found I didn't need the space until I hit 14. You have a lot of room on that first island, so you should be fine for at least another level or two.
I just realized I spent the last thirty minutes typing up a post about dragons. Not only dragons, but dragons in a video game. Crap, I'm a nerd.
Anyhow! I learned most of what I know from --> http://dragonvale.wikia.com/wiki/DragonVale_Wiki <-- an amazing resource. It will show you all of the different dragons, what can be bread with what, the different buildings, etc. Check it out, it helped me a ton.

Please exchange more Apps on the iOS. I seem to be slowing down and only using my iPod for Music. I use to play lots of games on the iOS like Plant vs Zombies, Minecaft PE, City Story, Restaurant Story and all that jazz.
No fun without the games ^^

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
Nope - breed that stuff! For example, you get Moss by breeding Plant with Earth. Don't ever pay gems for eggs, because there's always a way to breed it. It might take more time, but it's a ton cheaper.

That made me feel better xD
I was like wow, gems, really? I think I should look up the Wiki.
Is it me, or can you only gift to 3 people at a time? O.o

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
Wiki for sure. It will show you all the combos. That's how I've made all of my hybrids. I also managed to get a rare by using info from the wiki.
You can only gift three gems a day, unless you have a gem tree. With a gem tree you can gift six every day. However, a gem tree costs a hundred gems. I bought one shortly after I purchased gems from the store. Since I generally receive six gems per day, it was a good trade off. It will pay for itself after a few weeks.
What I do for gem gifting is just keep track of who sends me what. If I don't get a gem from a random person on my friends list after a few days, I just unfriend them. On the wiki I linked there is a place where you can request friends. I've added over a hundred people, but only keep people on the list that actually send gems. It keeps things less confusing that way. The idea is to get three (or six, if you have a tree) people on your list that send a gem every single day. An even trade.

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
I'm brutal!
Actually, I tend to give it a little longer, but in the meantime, I don't send any gems until I receive one back. I figure that gem I'm sending to a person who doesn't send one back could be going to a person who does send one back.

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
Well seeing as i only have 3 friends atm, i will only send it to you guys (and girl ;) )atm :D
Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
I think I have nine now. Not everyone sends a gem, so I like to keep a few extras just in case.
Another thing I'm not sure you guys know that's nice about having friends... you can visit them every 24 hours, and there will be little party hats above some of their habitats. The party hats give free money! It's really helpful at the early levels.

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
Yea, i figured that out shortly after i friended you... sadly enough, i was like lvl8 or 9 when i did so it didnt help much...
Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
As you level up the money you get scales. I didn't figure it out right away either. It's not such an insane amount that you should do it every day, but if you're hurting it certainly helps. I haven't done the rounds in a few days just because I don't need the gold anymore. As soon as you can breed air dragons gold will just roll in like it's nothing.

Re: Anyone play DragonVale on iOS?
I got the request. It doesn't matter how often you play, but obviously you'll move along a bit quicker the more you play. Luckily it's a game where you only have to check on it every so often. There's not much else you can do besides decorate when you have all your timers up.
