Favorite thing to build and why: Automated Minecart Tracks, Hidden Areas, and Redstone Devices (all combined) because they require a lot of time spent to acquire the materials, as well as considerable amount of knowledge and patience to get right. I have spent many days, if not many weeks of ingame time singleplayer building them so I am used to starting from scratch but then achieving wonderful creations. I like hiding my work using redstone devices because I think no matter how much work you put into something, revealing it in an awesome way makes it hit home even more.
IRL hobbies: Hiking, Biking, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball, Hockey, Starcraft 2, reading world history (primarily WWII era), harmonica, piano, and weaponry
Occupation: Full Time student at RPI studying a BS in mechanical engineering and in a few years a MS in physics, bar tending and internships on the side
Pick one of the following topics, and tell us something about it - Ancient Egypt, Famous Pianists, Nuclear Physics: My favorite pianist by far is Gustav Mahler. He was born in Austria-Hungary in the middle of the 19th century and was both an excellent pianist and a fantastic composer. His life as a composer was relatively small, seeing as it was undiscovered prior to the period immediately before the beginning of the rise of Nazi Germany, and was banned under Hitler. Only until post 1945 did people begin to hear some of Mahler's real works, including his trilogy of symphonies (5th, 6th, and 7th). My favorite works of his include Songs on the Death of Children and Quartet for Piano and Strings in A minor. He also was a renowned conductor and helped conduct the Vienna Opera near the turn of the 1890s. Unfortunately I care more for his conducted work then for his personal performances, and throughout each of periods of composing her produced eclectic and different music for the period, and even for the modern classical tastes of the day. I appreciate how readily he can switch from gloom to uplifting overtures and while he was criticized for his work (especially the 6th) I see no reason why people should not care for his work.

PS sorry for my Mahler rant, I would have liked to talk about Rail Guns and Gauss Rifles seeing as I plan on working with them as my occupation, but i needed to adhere to your posted criteria...oh well maybe another time...

Thanks for the opportunity,
Kepnid

Most of the major projects on the server are built around the texture pack John Smith. It's not a requirement to install or use it, but odds are good that the server will look much better if you use the same texture pack that the moderators are using.

In order to use this texture pack, you need to download MCPatcher, and John Smith. There are installation instructions included in the zip file.
